Reddit ubiquiti - Seriously just get the U6. If you find it doesn't meet your needs (and I note this is a home) get the U7 or whatever later. In their "insider" video on YouTube from today/yesterday they said more U7 products were coming out soon. Whatever definition of "soon" they use is unknown.

LR = POE + (will have to buy new switches) LR = 4x4 MIMO & 4x4 MIMO. LR = throughput 2400 Mbps 5Ghz. PRO= POE (no new switches) PRO = 2x2 MIMO and 4x4 MIMO. PRO=throughput 4.8 Gbps. so which is more important the extra 2x2 MIMO on the 2.4 ghz side or the extra speed the PRO has on the 5 ghz size?. Hot boobs blonde

Ubiquiti has a habit of abandoning projects (Unifi Video, Unifi LED, Unifi XG Server), not to mention promising features for devices and leaving the users hanging. However, having wired Ethernet really unlocks the potential for complete network control (such as VLAN tagging). APs use cheap Mediatek chipsets, their NVR used to use a fucking USB thumb drive for writing databases to, products that simply don't work as advertised, firmware updates that seem like they never went to QA, and let's not forget the GPL violations.EdgeOS 3.0!! Early Access. I just got an email that a release candidate for EdgeOS 3.0 has been released, and I'm shocked. It looks like the main changes are Wireguard support and a revamped GUI. After a couple years of thinking it was dead, I guess I was wrong. I'm doubly surprised nobody is discussing it here.In general i install one AP per thousand sq ft. This allows for higher speeds and better reliability. More AP's at lower TX power is better than bigger AP's with big TX power. Look at like this. The AP is a major league pitcher playing catch with a 3 year old (your wireless devices). They are recommending TP-Link Omada just because of hardware availability. From what I read between the lines, more and more network installers move away from Ubiquiti in favor of Omada. While Omada is still years behind Ubiquiti feature and stability wise, their devices are available and that is what counts 🤷🏻‍♂️. 15.So the switch would be connected with 2.5gbe to the ISP's hub and my 2 computers. It would be connected to my USG wan port at 1gbe. Both computers also have 1gbe network interfaces which I'd use to connect a switch "behind" the USG. My ISP's hub would be forced into modem mode so it wouldn't try to do DHCP and its WiFi is disabled.I was searching for something else. I think UI care is like $100 US for 5 years for a UDM Pro SE. At work we run Sonicwalls (Which I'm hoping to move away from soon). The last warranty renewal I ran on those was about $2500 each for a year. In my mind, even for home, $100 would definitely be worth it. That being said.Seems like there's something to the LR design. LR has 4x4 2.4ghz and pro has 2x2 on 2.4Ghz (which is the signal you most likely use when you are further from the AP. Keepalived for health check and load balancing.Maybe. If you use VLANs to separate networks (perhaps IOT, servers, and user-machines), it's a whole lot easier to set up and maintain in a pure Unifi environment. Layer 3 switching is only available on like 2 of their models, the router goes haywire when you turn on security features, reporting doesn't even really work, vpn fails weekly, firmware releases are a crapshoot. I'd use their AP's but that's about it.Unifi goes down to 4 in Mesh setups. No Mandatory DHCP setting at the AP level. This is different than DHCP snooping.
